As part of the building project, the parish, together with the local housing authority have provided nine houses for the elderly. These are soon to be occupied and will give a nice community feeling to the area once finished.

Our new Parish Centre is finished, it's open and it's providing valuable services to our people in St. Patrick's and elsewhere. Already we have meetings of senior citizens, a coffee morning, support groups for parents, computer classes, dancing classes, photography classes, and the number just keeps on growing.
The parish centre is home to the parish office which, an addition to the many volunteers who man the reception desk five days a week, provides a focus and a welcome to people coming to the centre.

The latest news from our development, November 2007

Work on new parish centre is progressing at a steady pace at Loughboy.
The builder reports that the three phase development is on target with no major problems.
All going well, we will see the roof on before Christmas.

Parish Centre Building Begins

It has taken many years of planning, fine-tuning, numerous setbacks, and a lot of red tape but, at last, we are ready to build.

Building of the Parish Centre, Houses for the Elderly and the Presbytery began in May 2007. Below are some photos going back over the development since its beginning. It is our hope to provide a visual account of this work in progress.

St. Patrick's Parish Team & St. Fiacre's

With the inception of the Parish Team in the late 1980's, a long term development plan for St. Patrick's Parish was also born. It was envisaged that, along with liturgical and pastoral renewal, there would also be a structural development to cater for the needs of a rapidly growing population. Chief among these was the building of a new church at Loughboy where the largest growth was taking place.

A dedicated team of fundraisers joined with the parish team to plan this project and to raise the necessary funds. In 1992, St. Fiacre's Church was officially dedicated and opened.

But St. Fiacre's Church wasn't the only development planned for the Parish. At the time of the development of the church, long-term plans were also put into place to provide a Parish Centre and new Presbytery on the green site adjacent to St. Fiacre's. This development would take place once the new church had been paid for and other outstanding debt's for St. Patrick's and St. Joseph's had been met.

Now, in 2007, these plans for a Parish Centre, Houses for the Elderly and Presbytery are at last becoming a reality.

Parish Golf Classic 2007

Our annual Golf Classic was held on the 6th July 2007. The venue was Kilkenny Golf Club. Over 40 teams participated in the event and thankfully the weather was, for a change, lovely.
